That’s a wrap! Thanks to some late, great support we reached an impressive $22,990 raised for the Rugby Excellence Campaign; an unprecedented total for our programs. Although we didn’t reach our overall goal, the total amount will allow our programs to continue to grow and provide a tremendous experience for our young men and women. If you wanted to make a gift and didn’t have a chance, the page will remain open. Any amount makes a difference.

We have a busy summer ahead highlighted by Bonnies Rugby Camp July 27-30. We hope to see some of you either on campus or in our travels.

Go Bonnies!

Who we are

The men’s team was founded in 1975 and has a long history of success in New York state and beyond. Over the last decade the program has moved through the ranks of collegiate rugby in the Northeast. First winning five New York Division 2 championships in the 1990s and 2000s, and then three Empire Conference Division 1-AA titles (2012 in fifteens, 2013 & ’14 in sevens) and a D1-AA Elite Eight appearance, the Bonnies now compete in Rugby East, the region’s leading Division 1-A conference.

The women’s team, originally founded in 1978 and permanently re-established in 1998, has likewise been one of the leading programs in Western New York for the past two decades. Most recently the program won state championships in 2011 and 2014, advanced to the 2011 Small College Final Four, and has been a regular playoff qualifier, including this past season.

Why we need your help
Today St. Bonaventure rugby offers two full-time coaches employed by the university as well as a staff of assistant coaches with more than 30 years of coaching experience. Our players have access to premier facilities including a state-of-the-art turf field with lights, as well as the Richter Center for weight training and skill development.

With both teams playing 15s in the fall semester and Sevens in the spring, your donation can make a direct impact on the programs’ ability to succeed over the years to come.

Gifts to the teams will enhance the overall experience of every player. The costs of running competitive rugby programs include travel throughout the state and region, athletic trainers, uniforms, equipment, recruiting materials and much more.
