2023 BAF Softball

Shannon Costello

Hi everyone! My name is Shannon Costello, and I am from Morristown, NJ. I am a senior catcher for the St. Bonaventure University softball team. My team and I are gearing up for our 2023 Spring Break trip to Hawaii, which will be an incredible opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the country. We will be participating in the Hawaii Invitational as well as the Spring Fling in Honolulu.

On top of the once in a lifetime opportunity to compete in Hawaii, this season is going to be very special to me as we are playing 3 home games that will highlight some very special groups of people. We are celebrating our military service members and veterans with whom I have very close ties. My uncle Brian served in the Naval Air Force for 30 years and his son Chris is currently on active duty as a Major in the Air Force, serving in the Middle East several times. Additionally, I am playing this season in honor of my grandfather who recently passed away and served in military intelligence for 2 years. Our second game will highlight the Special Needs community. I have very deep connections to the special needs community, as my brother Cameron has Down Syndrome. For the past 10 years, my family and I have become very involved with the special needs community in our area, and I am so excited to play for a cause that means so much to me. Finally, we will be playing a cancer awareness game in which I will be honoring my Grandma Jane, Uncle Joe, and Aunt Maureen. As a St. Bonaventure community, drawing attention to these causes is a priority for us, and I am so lucky to be able to honor these groups of people while playing the game I love.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and go Bonnies!!
