Franciscan Center for Social Concern

Friends With Sisters

Friends with Sisters began in 2018 as a pilot program with the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany. Students are partnered with Allegany Franciscan sisters, thus allowing each to peek into one another’s lives and the opportunity for young people to develop a relationship with a vowed religious woman. Friends With Sisters aims to eliminate social isolation and build relationships between students and retired sisters of the Franciscan Sisters at the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse.

This semester, to ensure the safety of participants, visits to the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse were cancelled but students continue to communicate with their Sisters through letters, phone calls, and video conferencing.
