Franciscan Center for Social Concern at Bona's

SBU@SPCA

The SBU@SPCA provides St. Bonaventure students the opportunity to work with cats and dogs at the local animal shelter, the Cattaraugus County S.P.C.A. Each animal has a different story. Many were abandoned or given up by their loved ones. It is our job as an organization to help these animals feel the love and respect they deserve.

The S.P.C.A. has four rooms filled with both feral and domesticated cats that live within the center of the shelter, allowing the animals to roam free without being confined to a small cage. The shelter also has 68 dog kennels, featuring both indoor and outdoor spaces that house the dogs.

Students can chose between handling cats in the specific cat rooms and/or walking dogs. A designated path circling around a pond in the center of the property provides volunteers an outdoor area for dog walking.
